    • 2019 Mission to Haiti
      Information Meeting

      Sunday, January 13, 2019
11:15 AM (after the 10 AM mass)
      St. Patrick’s Parish Hall
This informal gathering is a great opportunity for anyone who is even the slightest bit curious about the 2018 or 2019 missions.

We are building another team to head back to Grand-Goâve, Haiti
from June 16-22, 2019… and you are invited!!!

Partnering with “Be Like Brit” helped us get to know the children and staff at Brit’s Home (the non-adoption orphanage where we stayed), enabled us to build a much needed home for a local family, provided the opportunity to see the greater Grand-Goâve community and opened our eyes to the beautiful Haitian people and their rich culture.

If we could do it… you can, too!

If you have questions or may be considering joining us in 2019, this meeting the place to be! Volunteers from our 2018 trip will be there to answer questions, etc.

If you know of anyone who might be considering an adventure like this, please have them come on January 13th (and/or have them reach out to Kate directly or via St. Pat’s website).

Information can also be found on our website https://mystpatricks.com/mission-haiti and at https://www.belikebrit.org/. Please contact Kate Salmon-Robinson if you are interested or have any questions: 508-254-7766 or katesalmon@aol.com.

      2019 MISSION TRIP
      JUNE 16-22, 2019
      in partnership with BLB
      (BeLikeBrit.org)

FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW IF INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN OUR
      2019 GLOBAL MISSION TRIP

St. Patrick’s is going back to Haiti in 2019!  We are again partnering with Be Like Brit (BeLikeBrit.org) for our second international mission where, among other things, we will build a desperately needed home for a family in Grand-Goâve.

Together with Father Tomasz and Deacon Patrick, in June 2018 our team of 16 successfully built a safe, sturdy home for a single mother and her three young children.  We met the family on Monday morning, worked for days and gave Mom the keys at a blessing of the home at the end of the week.  It was an incredibly moving experience.

Traveling with “Be Like Brit” helped us to get to know the children and staff at Brit’s Home (the non-adoption orphanage where we stayed), provided the opportunity to see the greater Grand-Goâve community and opened our eyes to the beautiful Haitian people and their rich culture.

We will be hosting an informational meeting in early January for anyone considering joining us in 2019.

Please complete the mini form below if you are interested in learning more about the trip and would like updates about the mission.

We also invite you to support our Haitian Mission by making a donation…

    • More information:

St. Patrick’s Parish in Whitinsville has a very simple mission statement:

Love God. Love One Another. Make Disciples.

One concrete way we can do it is to serve all our sisters and brothers, particularly the poor and needy, by generous acts of charity and by working together with all people of good will for justice and peace.”

This mission trip is one way in which our Parish Community is striving to live our mission.

      Who:

      Hopefully YOU will join us!

      • The maximum size of the group will be 16, so if you are interested please let us know sooner, rather than later.

      • You may come with our St. Pat’s team as a solo traveler, as a couple, with a friend, or as a family.

      • Age:  The minimum age requirement is 16 years old.  If you will be under 18 year old during the week you travel to Haiti, you must be accompanied by a parent/chaperone.

      • There are a few dorm-style rooms for Britsionarys/volunteers as part of the orphanage.  We will work out the sleeping arrangements once we have the group finalized.  Each bright room has a bathroom with shower — all with clean, filtered, drinkable water (and, if all goes well, some air conditioning, too!).

      Skills:

      • No prior experience needed… just an open heart and mind!

      Cost:

      • $1950 per person — plus the cost of the required background check (typically $25-$100) and transportation to and from the airport (which we will work out together)

      • Food, lodging, flights and transportation are included.

      • Spending money: BLB suggests $50-$100, depending on how many souvenirs you would like to purchase.  You will need cash for food in the airport, $10 for a Haitian tourist card and any souvenirs you wish to purchase.  There are not a lot of opportunities to spend money, so you really don’t need much.

      Fundraising:

      • The cost of the trip can be entirely self-funded, but our team will also organize some group fundraising efforts to mitigate the cost for all travelers who participate.  You are also invited to do your own fundraising, too (with the support of St. Pat’s and BLB).

      • Once you are ready to get started, you can begin the process of fundraising to help support your trip. BLB will also provide you with your own personal fundraising website to help you get started.

      Background and SORI Checks:

      • In order to volunteer at Brit’s Home, BLB must run your SORI (sex offender) and criminal background check.  Please note that BLB has to perform their own checks, even if you have already had it done at St. Pat’s, your place of employment, etc.

      • Please note that the charge for background checks is separate from the total cost of your trip and you will be charged anywhere between $25-$100, depending on the counties you have lived in, and name aliases.
